An appreciation for the Canadian UFO Survey

Ufology Research

I received the following email from a UFO witness regarding the Canadian UFO Survey. This writer hit the nail on the head when it comes to the nature of ufology and the importance of good scientific data.

(Geoff, are you listening? This kudos is for you, too!)

Hello Chris,

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how impressed I am with your work on the Canadian UFO Survey!

I do have to admit, though, that I was a little surprised to see my
sighting documented in the survey. At first I was taken
aback, as I had initially made my report anonymously through Peter
Davenport's NUFORC site (and would like to keep it that way). As I looked through your site, however, I realized how very important this data is to UFO researchers, as well as to anyone who has even a general interest and curiousity about UFOs. I think it is wonderful to be able to find this type of information in its (relatively) original form without someone having added an interpretation of the events surrounding a sighting. Not that I don't believe there is also a place for interpretation... it's just that this type of 'scientific' documentation is sorely needed in this area of study.

Chris, thank you so much for your many years of devotion, and unbiased expertise in the UFO field!

Sincerely, [name deleted]

Thank you, you know who you are. But I will point out that the Canadian UFO Survey is only possible with the cooperation of many UFO investigators and researchers across North America, and for them, I give my own thanks. The accomplishments of the Survey are testament to what can be done when the open sharing of data is put into action and researchers work together towards and understanding of the UFO phenomenon.
